Translucence Biosystems is developing new tools, reagents, assays, equipment and software for 3D intact-tissue histology, to help neuroscientists apply next-generation 3D histology to their research questions and accelerate CNS drug discovery. Our modified iDISCO+ tissue clearing procedures, cellular-resolution light sheet imaging and AI-powered software provide a platform for generating actionable anatomics data from 100’s of regions across intact mouse brains. Whether interested in antibody therapeutics, gene therapy, cell therapy, small molecules, or other therapeutic modalities, our methods can provide critical data for pre-clinical development, answering questions such as: Did my therapeutic cross the blood-brain barrier? Is there a neuroinflammatory response? Does my therapeutic co-localize with the target? Does it engage the target? Does my therapy affect disease-related phenotypes in the brain? Where in the brain is it effective? What changes in brain activity are seen in specific brain regions and circuits? We perform experiments on a fee-for-service basis and sell reagents and software to those wanting to do it themselves. Interesting brain-wide assays include: β-Amyloid in AD model mice, therapeutic antibodies crossing the BBB and localizing with their target, human iPSC-derived transplanted cells, drug effects on seeded αSynuclein fibrils, and effects of small molecule therapeutics on brain-wide neuronal activity patterns.
