Janine Sengstack
Janine Sengstack is co-founder and CSO of Junevity, which is a biotech company creating novel therapeutics to reset cellular health and promote longevity. During her PhD at UC San Francisco (UCSF), Janine and her professor, Dr. Hao Li, discovered new genes that reverse damage and aging markers in human cells. She co-developed their high throughput method to discover, test, and validate these novel gene targets. Their breakthrough discovery is the science driving Junevity forward. Janine was a finalist in the Nucleate Activator Program, culminating in her winning the Scientific Excellence Award for the Bay Area chapter. Janine was also a Hillblom Graduate Fellow and received support from the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub and the Illumina/UCSF Sequencing Partnership Grant. Before attending UCSF, Janine did an internship in microbiology at Genentech. During her undergraduate work, Janine studied bacterial quorum sensing using both microbiology and organic chemistry. She graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with her B.S in Biology, summa cum laude.
