Chief AI/Data Science Officer

Gautam Goel, Ph.D. is a leader in translational computational biology with a 20-year track record of creating value with impact in drug discovery and clinical development. Most recently, he served as Chief AI/Data Science Officer at a Boston-based biotech, hC Biosciences, where he is spearheaded application of cutting-edge AI/ML tools to guide the development of tRNA-based therapeutics towards the clinic. Prior to that he built and led an R&D consulting practice that specialized in analysis and modeling of multi-omics, multi-modal datasets to guide rational drug design and discover biomarkers for patient stratification. Previously, as Director of Precision Medicine at ImmusanT, his leadership of the biomarker discovery program in celiac disease led to the first blood-based diagnostic as well as an immune response monitoring toolkit to support Phase 2 clinical trials. Gautam trained as a Research Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Broad Institute with Dr. Ramnik J. Xavier, where he investigated mechanisms of IBD pathogenesis to discover druggable targets and drug candidates. He holds a doctorate and master’s degree in Bioengineering from Georgia Tech. Gautam’s work has led to over 45 publications in disease areas including Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis, Celiac disease, Chronic inflammation and Infectious diseases.
