Opening Address & Keynote Presentation: Establishing a foundation for fully-automated, closed-loop stem cell culture
Since the discovery of the Yamanaka factors enabling reprogramming of any cell type into pluripotent stem cells there has been significant investment in utilizing stem cell technologies for applications ranging from autologous cell therapies to the creation of novel disease models. Despite considerable progress in the field, research organizations have yet to realize the full potential of iPSCs. This is largely due to the time-intensiveness of iPSC culture. Stem cells are finicky – they require daily attention from expert researchers to assess cell morphology and colony health. Organizations that work with iPSCs need to culture dozens of samples in parallel to ensure stable, high-quality supply of cells for downstream applications. To solve these challenges we (Monomer Bio) have developed a software solution for stem cell culture automation, which enables highly-parallelized culture and provides scientists with intuitive interfaces for assessing cell health via automated imaging.
